There are several issues to
consider when purchasing a chandelier for your home.
You will need some basic information in order to determine
the proper size of fixture and at what height the
chandelier should hang at. Follow the steps below:
Determine the height from the floor to the ceiling outlet.
Determine the length and width of the table, if the table is
circular we would want the overall width.
The rule of the thumb for an 8 foot ceiling
is the fixture diameter will be no smaller than half
the width of the table. The standard table width tends to be
42" wide, so the minimum fixture width shall be 21" wide or
as large as 27-28" wide.
The hanging height from the floor to the bottom of the fixture
should be 5 feet, this is an average and you can adjust from
there.
When the ceiling height
is 10 feet or over, a fixture may be larger in both width and
height.
If you should have any questions concerning fixture sizing, please
email dimensions of the area and if possible the fixtures that you
are considering and we will give you our opinion on the matter.
