How do I clean Tiffany Fixtures ?

Tiffany style fixtures should be cleaned with no more than a soap and water solution.   When the fixture has been thoroughly cleaned you can apply a small amount of lemon oil to a lint free cloth and rub this onto the soldered joints in the fixture.   after you have applied the lemon oil to the fixture, gently rub off any excess oil, the joints on the fixture should now have a slight sheen.

Can I choose the colors of the panels for my fixtures ?

Unfortunately changing the color of the glass elements in the fixture is not possible.  Many hours of design time have been involved in every tiffany creation offer to you by the Tiffany Renovators.   The pattern and design of the Tiffany shade may also determine the overall colors used for that fixture, Also the finish of the base may have a factor in determining the coloration as well.

How are tiffany style lamps and fixtures assembled ?

Assembling Tiffany Style products is an extremely time consuming and tedious process.   First, the pattern must be cut from various styles and colors of glass that the artist has chosen to use on his design.    These pieces must then be precisely cut,  this is done from either special machinery, which shoots a jet of water at such an extreme pressure that it can cut through glass like a knife through butter, or this can be done by hand.   This is the only stage at which a machine may be used in the process if it is used at all.   The next step requires that each small piece of glass must be individually hand wrapped with a copper foil, around the entire circumference of the glass.  This is what will enable the solder to join each piece of glass together.   The glass shapes are then laid on to a mold which resembles the fixture's overall shape.   Next the artist must then go through the time consuming task of hand soldering the copper foiled pieces of glass together.  This is the process which takes the greatest amount of labor and where the individual talent of the person is most apparent.

What are the basic characteristics I should be looking for in a quality Tiffany style fixture?

Quality and style are for the most part are a personal issue, budget and taste are something that each customer must determine for them selves and these factors will be relative to the cost of the item.   The single most important component that will drive the cost of an item is the labor to assemble on the product.  This is most easily observed from the sheer quantity of pieces that are involved in the design of the fixture.  Generally speaking the more pieces in the fixture, the more expensive the product will tend to be, the fewer the pieces the less expensive.   There are several types of glass that will be used in the design of a tiffany style fixture.   The two most common  are art glass and stained glass

Do I need extra chain or wire for my ceiling height?

Every fixture that utilizes chain to suspend it from the ceiling will be supplied with 3 feet of chain and 6 feet of power and ground wire.   How we determine overall chain and wire needed is to....

1- determine overall height from floor to ceiling outlet.

2- For fixtures hanging over a table, the overall height from the floor to the bottom of the fixture will be approx. 5 feet (based on an 8-10 foot ceiling).

A- Take the overall ceiling height and subtract 5 foot from the dimension.

B- Take the dimension you calculated from step "a" and then subtract the fixture height from this (as determined from product catalog).

C- Take the dimension you calculated from step "b" and this will tell you, "worst scenario" how much chain and wire you will need.   If this dimension works out to be 3 feet or less, than the standard lengths supplied with the fixture will suffice.

D- If the dimension you gathered from step "c" is from 3-6 feet in length, than all you need to do is order additional chain lengths.   If the dimension works out to be greater than 6 feet then the fixture will have to be rewired to add the additional length of wire as well.   If the customer desires Tiffany Renovators to perform this function than there will be a $20.00 charge to do so.

3- Additional chain lengths will be charged at $3.95 per foot.   Certain fixtures which require a more elaborate or ornate chain will increase in cost.   When this is the case the customer will be notified of the increase in cost.

Once any alteration has been made to your fixture, the sale than becomes final and it may not be returned

Can I swag my fixture ?

You can swag any fixture that uses chain to suspend it from the ceiling.

A basic swag kit generally consists of 12 feet of chain and 15 feet of wire, a plug, set of hooks for the ceiling and an inline switch located approx. 4 feet from the plug .   The customer may request different lengths if needed.

The cost for these alterations to the fixture are 49.95, this includes the basic chain needed for many of the fixtures, should your fixture require a more expensive model of chain, than the cost will increase.
